Solar pump sizing application

Size your solar pumping installation
in a few minutes

Enter your location, water needs and installation details. LE LAB selects a suitable pump, sizes the photovoltaic array and estimates water production throughout the year.

Your sizing

Everything you need to build your project

A few inputs are enough: LE LAB turns them into a complete solar pumping solution, from the manufacturers' official curves and your region's solar resource.

The right pump

A model chosen among the leading brands, based on the exact characteristics of your project.

The solar array

The photovoltaic power required, the number of panels and their configuration.

The installation diagram

A complete view of the installation and its main equipment.

Month-by-month production

An estimate of the water volume available each month, compared with your needs.

The worst month

Automatically identified, with the margin you have.

The pump curves

The performance of the selected pump and its operating point.

The calculations rely on the manufacturers' official curves. 52 countries covered, 107 reference cities for solar data, 6 languages available.

Simple and fast

Your sizing in 7 steps

No need to prepare a complex study. LE LAB guides you step by step and only asks for the information needed for the sizing.

Application step 1: searching for the nearest city, with Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) in the suggestions list
1

Project location

Search for the city closest to the project. Its solar data serves as a reference to calculate the installation's performance throughout the year.

Application step 2: choosing the water use among village or community, livestock, irrigation and known volume
2

Water use

Select your need: water supply for a village or community, livestock watering, irrigation or a volume you already know.

The rest of the journey adapts automatically to your project.

Application step 3: refining the water need, service level and number of inhabitants, with the daily volume in cubic metres
3

Water needs

Provide a few details about your use and LE LAB estimates the required daily water volume.

For water supply and irrigation, the calculations draw notably on WHO and FAO references.

Application step 4: entering the water depth, dynamic level during pumping
4

Water depth

Enter the water depth during pumping.

This is what determines the effort needed to lift the water to the surface.

Application step 5: delivery head to the arrival point and pipe length
5

Water delivery

Specify where the water must be delivered and the length of the pipe.

The delivery head and head losses are taken into account in the sizing.

Application step 6: installation options (electrical backup, tank) and solar panel selection, a pro feature with four modes
6

Installation options

Need backup power? A water tank?

A few options adapt the solution and the diagram to your installation.

Application step 7: summary of the answers (location, water need, depth, pipe, solar panel) with the total dynamic head calculated, before running the calculation
7

Review

All the project information is gathered before the calculation.

Check it, correct it if needed, then get your sizing.

Your solution

A clear result, ready to use

Once the calculation is complete, the essentials of your installation are gathered on a single screen.

The solution at a glance

Application result: three tiles showing the LORENTZ PS2-4000 C-SJ5-25 pump, a 3150 Wp solar array with Trina Solar Vertex S+ panels and an average production of 35.7 cubic metres per day

Find at a glance the selected pump, the solar array power and the estimated water production.

The installation diagram

Application installation diagram: solar array, controller, submersible pump, elevated tank and electrical protections, with a numbered legend

Visualise the whole solution, from the photovoltaic array to the water delivery, with the main equipment required.

Month-by-month production

Application monthly production chart: water volume pumped each month compared with the need, with rainfall overlaid and the worst-month note

Compare the water need and the estimated production throughout the year. The worst month is automatically identified.

The pump curves

Manufacturer pump curves in the application: flow according to available power, by head, with the project's operating point

Consult the manufacturer curves and see the operating point matching your project.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is the study really free?

Yes. You can carry out a complete sizing for free and without registration.

You directly get the right pump, the solar array sizing, the installation diagram and the month-by-month water production estimate.

If you then wish to receive a quote, simply ask us. The sizing remains without commitment.

What data is the calculation based on?

LE LAB uses the pump manufacturers' official performance curves as well as 18 years of irradiation data to estimate month-by-month production.

The project's hydraulic characteristics, notably the water depth, the delivery head and the head losses, are also taken into account in the sizing.

My city is not in the list, what should I do?

Select the available city closest to your project: it serves as a solar reference for the region, and the calculation remains representative.

LE LAB currently covers 52 countries, through 107 cities. If your country is not yet available, contact us: we can look into adding it.

Which pump brands are offered?

LE LAB is multi-brand and currently integrates LORENTZ, GRUNDFOS and SHURFLO.

Each pump is integrated from its manufacturer performance curves in order to select a model suited to the project's characteristics.

What happens once the sizing is complete?

All the results are displayed immediately: selected pump, solar array, installation diagram, month-by-month production and pump curves. Print the project summary, or ask us for a quote.

Professionals who wish to adjust the configuration, generate a complete report or prepare their own quotes can upgrade to LE LAB Pro.
